Former Penn State-Abington Professor Jailed in Child Porn Case

A former suburban Philadelphia university music professor accused of sending explicit pictures to a teenage girl in Spain has been sentenced to three months to 23 months confinement.

Sixty-six-year-old Stephen Stace of Oreland was sentenced Monday in Montgomery County after pleading guilty in February to child pornography and corruption of minors.

Judge Garrett Page ordered Stace to serve 45 days in the county prison and 45 days on house arrest, followed by five years on probation.

Stace said he was "extremely remorseful" for his actions, which he said had "hurt and disappointed many people."

Defense attorney Thomas Joachim sought probation, saying his client "went off the path quite horrifically ... out of loneliness."

Stace retired in July 2013 as an associate professor of music and integrative arts at Penn State-Abington.
