Fire Evacuates University City High Rise

Fire broke out early Tuesday at the high rise on 38th and Chestnut Streets in University City.

Around fifty residents were evacuated from a University City apartment building early Tuesday after fire broke out inside the building.

Firefighters were called to the 7-story building at 39th and Chestnut Street around 2:30 a.m.

The fire was put out about an hour later. There were no injuries. Residents have been allowed back inside.

The fire is under investigation.
