Entrepreneur and Former 76ers Owner Pat Croce's Mansion Sells for $2.2 Million

The former mansion of one of the wealthiest men in the Philadelphia area was sold Saturday for a little more than two million dollars.

Earlier in the week author, entrepreneur and former Philadelphia 76ers owner Pat Croce announced he was putting his Villanova home, most recently listed at $6.25 million, up for auction.

During Saturday's auction, the bidding began at $1.5 million, according to the Premiere Estates Auction Company. The winning bid was ultimately $2,227,500. The auction company did not name the winning bidder but said he or she was a local resident.

The Stone Colonial mansion, located at 835 Mount Moro Road in Villanova, is more than 10,000 square feet and sits on 3.55 acres.

The 88-year-old home includes six bedrooms, five full baths and three half baths, a 10-car garage, five fireplaces, private library and formal dining room, kitchen, master suite with fireplace, his-and-her baths and a large sitting area.

It also includes a pool with a detached pool house, tennis court and fitness room.

Croce, 59, was a physical therapist and athletic trainer for the Philadelphia 76ers for more than ten years. He later founded SPORTS Physical Therapists in the 1980's and was named the president of the Philadelphia 76ers in 1996. During his time with the team, the Sixers went from last place to the NBA Finals in 2001.

After leaving the 76ers, Croce was a television commentator for The NBA on NBC and also the author of several books, including his New York Times best selling autobiography, "I Feel Great and You Will Too!"
