Man Threatens Woman With Gun During Road Rage Incident: Police

A man was arrested after he allegedly pulled out a gun following a road rage incident in Delaware Friday night.

Police say a 21-year-old woman was driving northbound on Stanton-Christiana Road in Newark, Delaware around 11:25 p.m. when she was suddenly cut off by a car driven by 29-year-old Donald Lavender of Middletown.

The woman and her 28-year-old male passenger then began arguing with Lavender, according to investigators. During the argument, Lavender allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the woman and her passenger.

Lavender then drove his car into the parking lot of the Delaware Park Casino and went inside as the woman called 911, police said.

Lavender was apprehended by casino security officers shortly after and was turned over to Delaware State Police, according to investigators.

State Troopers say they escorted Lavender back to his car where they found an H&R .22 caliber handgun inside as well as a book bag with approximately 67 grams of marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Lavender was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana and other related offenses. He was arraigned and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for lack of $77,600 secured bail.
