Delaware Developer Faces Campaign Finance Charges

A Dover developer awaiting trial on federal bank fraud charges has been indicted in state court for alleged campaign finance violations.

An indictment unsealed Thursday accuses Michael Zimmerman of making fraudulent contributions to a candidate for governor in October 2008 using fictitious names or the names of other people.

Zimmerman pleaded not guilty to the single felony charge at a brief arraignment hearing and was released on $2,000 unsecured bail.

Zimmerman's attorney, Dan Lyons, declined to comment after the hearing.

A case review is scheduled for Aug. 29.
