CHOP, City Break Ground on $42.5 Million South Philadelphia Center

Ground was broken on a new $42.5 million community health and literacy center in South Philadelphia that is seeking to become a national model of a public-private partnership providing healthcare, literacy and recreational services.

The three-story, 96,000-square-foot building is being developed in a joint venture between Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the city. The project is located on a block bounded by South Broad Street, South 15 th Street, Morris Avenue and Castle Avenue.

The city is leasing the property to CHOP at a nominal fee and invested $2.2 million to help construct the facility. CHOP is funding the remainder of the project cost. Read full article here.
