The Sun (Bird) is Back

It's a happy ending after all for the Philly Zoo's little Sun Conure parrot.

A yellow tropical bird who flew the coop from the Philadelphia Zoo Wednesday has come back today.

The bird was found sometime Saturday morning and is now safe and sound at the zoo, according to Bill Larson, director of communications for the Zoo.

After sending out a cry for help Friday to all citizens, so that city residents would look out for the tropical parrot, the zoo received over 100 leads about the missing Sun Conure -- including one that it was captured Friday.

The bird was doing a free flight during the zoo's daily "Festival of Flight" when it took off and didn't return Wednesday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"Because this was a younger bird and not so familiar with the zoo, we figure he just lost his way," Larson said.
