Bank Robber Trips, Drops Loot

Pittsburgh police say an inept bank robber tripped and dropped some of his loot before hopping into getaway vehicle whose driver had trouble starting it.

The robber managed to get away, but police have jailed the alleged getaway driver, 38-year-old Christopher Clinton. Online court records don't list an attorney for Clinton, who faces an Oct. 24 preliminary hearing in Thursday's heist at the Citizens Bank in the city's Manchester neighborhood.

Police say the robber hopped into a vehicle with the driver and two other passengers who panicked when it wouldn't start immediately.

Police caught up with Clinton and that vehicle a short time later, when Clinton claimed to have been carjacked by the robber. Police say Clinton later acknowledged he was a jitney driver who gave the robber a ride.
