Abduction Turns Out to Be Bachelor Party Stunt

Police launched search for missing woman after witnesses reported the fake abduction

What Philadelphia Police thought was the abduction of a woman turned out to be a bachelor party stunt.

The manager of the Chart House restaurant at Penn's Landing called authorities around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday after he witnessed what he thought was a woman being abducted by four men.

The manager told police a van pulled up alongside a silver Honda in the restaurant's parking lot.

The men -- wearing pantyhose over their faces -- jumped out, grabbed the woman from the passenger seat of the Honda, put a bag over her head and threw her in the back of the van. The white van then sped off north on Columbus Blvd. as the Honda drove south.

Police issued an advisory to keep a watch out for the white Dodge conversion van with a maroon stripe as they searched for the woman.

But late Wednesday, investigators discovered the entire incident was all part of a bachelor party.

They also determined the woman seen by the manager, turned out to be a man.

No word whether anyone involved will be arrested.
