Residents in a Aston Township, Pa. townhome community awoke early Thursday to find some of their cars on fire.
Three cars were burned along the same Delaware County block Thursday morning in what officials are calling a suspicious blaze.
The vehicle fires were discovered around 2:50 a.m. outside some townhomes on the 400 block of Derry Drive in Aston Township, Pa.
"It could have led to homes being set on fire and of course you have people sleeping in their homes... It had the potential to cause a lot of damage and lives could have been in danger," said Aston Police Sgt. Mike Ruggieri.
No one was hurt despite the cars being parked close to where people were sleeping.
All three cars were totally destroyed. The middle vehicle, a minivan, was towed away for investigation and its owner says the tires were flattened on another one of his vehicles.
The two other cars destroyed in the blaze belonged to a father who lived nearby and was awakened by firefighters to the news.
"Whoever did it just have to think about the people around... because this affects my kids -- I cant send my kids to school today," said Louis.
Officials are investigating the cause and they say that foul play is possible.
"Do I believe it is a random act? No," said Ruggieri.
