The Picks: Eagles at Rams

It’s that time of week. Time to man up and make your pick for this week’s game. Get it right, and you're in for a season of untold gambling riches. You'll start off with this week's winning pick, then get hotter and hotter until Vegas won't take any more of your bets and you're forced to place wagers through a network of friends of yours from Arkansas with names like Diamond Jim and Pork Chop Higgins, and then you'll be shot dead by mobsters when you refuse to help them influence the spreads. Get it wrong, and none of that fun stuff happens. Here we go:

Peter King: Eagles 17, Rams 15. "Why so close?" Indeed. WHY, PETER? Explain yourself, you jerkwheat!

Seven of Ten ESPN Experts: Eagles. It was pointed out to me by our own Dan Stamm that Ron Jaworski ALWAYS picks the Eagles and Merril Hoge, who is clinically insane, always picks against them because his career ended here and he hates them. So all season long, I will be keeping track of Hoge and Jaws. This week, they remain true to form, with Jaws picking the Eagles and Hoge picking the Rams. BECAUSE MERRIL HOGE HATES THE EAGLES, ESPECIALLY NOW THAT THEY HAVE VINCE YOUNG WHO HE DOUBLE HATES.

Michael Silver (Yahoo! Sports): Eagles.

90% Of Yahoo! Users: Eagles.

Pete Prisco (CBSSports): Eagles 28, Rams 20

AJ Daulerio (Deadspin): Eagles.

Index Card I Threw Up In The Air With The Name Of Each Team On Either Side, Seeing Which Team Would Land Face Up: Eagles

The Wife: Eagles. "I hate St. Louis." She means the city in general.

Me: Seems like a good place to go against the tide and pick St. Louis, but surely I can't get into bed with Merril Hoge's pick. I'd have to start wearing ties with big knots and everything. Anyway, I think all the Mike Vick hoopla has overshadowed the fact that this defense is going to be really, really good. I don't know who Sam Bradford will find open downfield on Sunday. His best target is Mike Sims-Walker, and I fully expect Nnamdi to own him for 60 minutes. The Rams are still a developing team, and this is not the time or the place for them to start exceeding expectations. EAGLES 38, RAMS 19.
