Hop on That Huffy and Ride

Leave the car at home because today is National Bike to Work Day

Held on the third Friday each May, it just so happens that today is National Bike to Work Day.

And since it’s a beautiful, warm spring day, you have no excuse. Leave that car parked in the driveway, pump your tires and hit the road – on your bike.

Even the mayor’s doing it, grabbing other commuters on his way (he’ll stop at the steps of the Art Museum to pick bikers up at 7:30 a.m.) and ride with them to City Hall.

Oh, and don’t try to get all Lance Armstrong on us, if your ride is more than four miles, Breen Goodwin of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia suggests you stick to your regular commute – unless, of course, you’re experienced in riding long distances and your boss doesn’t mind a little sweat on your suit.
