Freddy Galvis' lack of hustle nearly cost the Phillies a victory Tuesday night, and people on social media were not happy about it.
In the end, Galvis' baserunning blunder didn't cost the Phils a win. The Phillies beat the Mets, 6-2, in 10 innings after a late rally got them just their 13th win over New York since the start of the 2015 season (see Instant Replay).
Galvis hit a pop-up in the infield with two outs in a one-run game during the eighth inning but failed to reach second base after Mets third baseman Jose Reyes dropped the ball because of a lack of hustle.
The Phillies' next batter, Andres Blanco, hit a ground-rule double to score the game-tying run but left Galvis on third base instead of scoring what could have been the game-winning run.
In the moment, though, the double would have given the Phillies a 3-2 lead. But the lack of hustle could have played a key role in handing them another heartbreaking loss.

Freddy Galvis not running out that pop up just kills the Phillies. They would be winning right now.β Matt Gelb (@MattGelb) April 19, 2017
This game is over if Galvis hustles... I hope Pete benches him tomorrow to send a message #PhilliesTalkβ Joe Ayoub (@Nort0nAntiVirus) April 19, 2017

In this case, it's late and it's close. Galvis has to be hustling out of the box. I'm sorry folks, that's just the way it is.β John Stolnis (@FelskeFiles) April 19, 2017
