    BOX SCORE

LAS VEGAS – The Sixers said they wanted to leave the Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas with a win. On Friday they did that, defeating the Heat, 74-66, in the consolation round.

Ben Simmons played after sitting out the past two games for rest. He recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. But it was the undrafted Shawn Long who led all players with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Sixers began to pull away in the second quarter, and fought off a late-game comeback attempt from the Heat. They finished Las Vegas action with a 2-4 record.

    Inside the box score
Simmons went 5 for 15 from the field and 5 for 7 from the line. He dished six assists and committed six turnovers.

Long shot 8 for 13 from the field to tally his 18 points. Richaun Holmes scored 14 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Damion Lee led the Heat with 17 points and seven rebounds. Michael Carrera pulled down 10 boards.

    Turning point
The Heat cut the Sixers' lead to four with 3:33 to play, and the Sixers responded with a 5-0 spurt to keep the Heat at bay. The Sixers held the Heat to just three points in the final four minutes.

    Coaching change
Assistant coach Gene Burroughs coached the finale. Lloyd Pierce had coached every game in Las Vegas prior to Friday, and Billy Lange led the Utah squad. Summer league was an opportunity for each of them to receive head coaching experience.

    Up next
The Sixers will leave Las Vegas following back-to-back summer leagues. The next organized competition is training camp in the fall.
