Giffords Returns to Tucson For Weekend Visit

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is in her hometown of Tucson for the first time since she was shot in the head in January. "We've been dreaming of this trip for some time," said astronaut husband Mark Kelly. "Gabby misses Tucson very much and her doctors have said that returning to her hometown could play an important role in her recovery." Giffords was released from the hospital earlier this week and is continuing outpatient treatment from her husband's home in League City, Texas. The congresswoman's chief of staff, Pia Carusone, told The Arizona Republic last week that communication remains "a real struggle and challenge," but a Giffords spokesperson said she has repeatedly said "I want to go home."
