James Cameron now holds the top two spots on the all-time domestic box-office chart.
Cameron's 3-D sci-fi epic "Avatar" has raked in $601.1 million (U.S.) domestically, beating "Titanic's" former record of $600.8 million, according to The Associated Press.
Just last week, "Avatar" reached the $2 billion mark, passing "Titanic's" $1.8 billion for the worldwide box-office record.
With that said, there is one more record for Cameron's latest smash hit to break -- because of today's high admission prices,"Titanic" has still sold more tickets, according to The AP.
