Police Release Details in Deadly Shooting of Woman in Kensington

An investigation into the shooting death of a 32-year-old woman found in a car in Kensington early Saturday morning is underway.

At 5:18 a.m., officers were called to Rush Street near Frankford Avenue, where the victim was found in the driver's seat of a white 2014 Ford Escape. She was suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and torso, police said.

Medics pronounced the woman, whose name was being withheld Saturday pending family notification, dead at the scene at 5:35 a.m. Police said they did not know what motivated the shooting and had not made any arrests Saturday afternoon.

The deadly shooting happened about five blocks from the scene on Aramingo Avenue where a young mom was shot execution-style inside her home Thursday night, and less than a mile from where a man was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon at Ormes and Cambria streets. There is no indication that the spate of shootings are related.

It was the second overnight shooting, after a man was shot to death in the city's Point Breeze section earlier.
