Pennsylvania School Police Officer Accidentally Shoots Gun

Prosecutors in northeastern Pennsylvania have launched an investigation after a school police officer accidentally shot his gun inside his school office.

School resource officer Paul Semler fired the weapon around 11 a.m. Wednesday inside the high school building, according to Western Wayne School District Superintendent Clay LaCoe. No one was hurt.

Semler is off the job while the Wayne County district attorney's office investigates.

District Attorney Janine Edwards tells The Times-Tribune of Scranton on Thursday that her probe has not yet discovered what the officer was doing when the gun was fired.
