Philly-Area School Confronts Soccer Team Hazing

A second Philadelphia-area high school is confronting hazing in its athletic program.

The Cheltenham School District said Tuesday that members of the boys' soccer team last month dangled players from their underwear as part of a hazing ritual.

District spokeswoman Susan O'Grady says the activity known as "ripping" involved forcefully pulling and tearing the undergarments.

She says it was non-sexual and didn't result in injuries.

O'Grady says the district has no tolerance for hazing and took unspecified action against certain students and employees.

Central Bucks High School West last week cancelled the rest of its football season amid allegations players grabbed teammates' genitals while fully clothed and placed towels over players' heads and led them into the shower.
