Philadelphia Public School Teacher Demonstration
Many Philadelphia teachers are marking May 1st, also known as International Workers Day, by making demonstrations. They have been working without a contract for four years. The teachers are marching right outside of City Hall. Earlier the teachers were demonstrating outside the School District Headquarters. The estimation is that 1,000 Philadelphia school teachers called in sick today. The school district says it has a 90% teacher retention rate over last year and that making a fair contract is their top priority.
