Parents Devastated About Thefts at Daughter's Grave

The Mount Holly couple says someone is stealing gifts they've left behind at their daughter's grave site

A Mount Holly couple says they are devastating about recent thefts from their daughter's grave site.

Charles and Joyce Dixon talked with NBC10's Nefertiti Jaquez, and say they just don't understand how someone could steal from a cemetery.

"It really, really hurts," said Charles Dixon. "I thought I was gonna be gone before her, but it didn't happen."

The Dixon's say they lost their daughter, Rose, four years ago at the age of 33.

They visit her grave site at the Mount Holly cemetery a few times a month and often leave gifts.

But recently, those gifts-- including flags, solar lights, gnomes and flowers-- have been snatched from the grave site. The Dixon's estimate the thefts total anywhere from $500 to $550.

"Every time you come here and you see something missing there goes another piece," said Joyce Dixon.

Police tell NBC10's Jaquez they will be stepping up patrols near the cemetery.
