Pa. Rep Charged With DUI Faces More Charges

Rep. Joe Brennan was charged with more than a DUI after falling down drunk in a parking lot, police say

A state lawmaker charged with drunk driving is facing additional charges following his arrest last week.

Bethlehem police tell The Morning Call of Allentown that state Rep. Joe Brennan is also charged with careless driving and public drunkenness after investigators say Brennan fell down in a parking lot before police pulled him over.

Brennan was pulled over Wednesday near his Bethlehem district office. He was charged with having a blood-alcohol content more than twice the 0.08 limit for drivers in Pennsylvania.

Witnesses tell police Brennan fell and hit his head, was helped to his feet by bystanders and drove away before being pulled over.

In a statement Brennan says he made a β€œserious mistake” and has had a β€œlong and personal struggle with alcohol.”
