Nutter: “What Led to This?”

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter gets a firsthand look at the aftermath of the massive inferno that claimed the lives of two of the city’s bravest. The early morning fire at the abandoned warehouse at York and Jasper in Kensington quickly grew to a five-alarm blaze. Crews had it under but hot embers spread to several homes and a furniture store. A wall and the roof collapsed inside the store, trapping five firefighters. One escaped on his own, two were rescued 30 minutes later. But it took two hours for crews to locate Lt. Robert Neary and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney. Both were killed. Mayor Nutter says the city will explore and refer any potential criminal negligence to the District Attorney.
