Fire Leaves Family of 14 Homeless

A house fire overnight left a family of 14 looking for shelter.

The blaze along the 3000 block of N Stillman Street in North Philadelphia broke out around 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the two-story row house. It didn’t take long for firefighters to bring the blaze under control but the damage was already done to the structure.

Luckily, all 14 people, including six children, living inside made it out unharmed. However, that family was left homeless, according to the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross announced that they offered assistance -- food, clothing, etc. -- to the family and that the family would be staying at the Red Cross House.

The cause of the blaze remained under investigation Thursday morning.
