A man has been ordered to stand trial on charges that he stabbed his father to death with a sword at his parents' suburban Philadelphia home last month.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 26-year-old Eli Goodrich of Philadelphia waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Authorities allege that he was on a weekly visit to his family's Middletown Township home last month when his mother heard the two arguing.
Investigators allege that he told 67-year-old Alan Goodrich "You are not going to control my mind anymore. I have to kill you."
Authorities said his mother came downstairs and found her husband sitting in a chair with a sword protruding from his stomach.
They allege that the defendant told her not to worry, that the sword was fake and "it collapses."
