Search Goes on for Missing Kayaker

Fire and rescue crews are still searching for a kayaker who went missing on the Lehigh River in eastern Pennsylvania over the weekend.

The boater went missing around 5:45 p.m. Sunday in the Canal Street Park area in Northampton. Crews have been searching a 5-mile stretch of the river, which has been running high because of recent rainfall.

“The river is really up and moving and that makes this much more difficult,” Northampton firefighter Keith Knoblach told the Easton Express-Times.

They have also been searching the shoreline.

Fire department officials say they found a blue kayak Sunday.

Northampton police Detective Glenn Deist says authorities are still treating it as a search for a missing person.

The identity of the missing boater wasn't clear.
