Cole Swaringer-Herring is accused of killing a woman he allegedly met online

A Philadelphia man faces charges in the murder or a young woman found stabbed and burned in a West Philadelphia alley Tuesday morning, police said.

Cole Swaringer-Herring faces murder, arson, abuse of corpse and related charges after police sources say he met the victim online then stabbed her multiple times before setting her body on fire.

The victim allegedly met her assailant on Facebook and was seeing him for the first time face-to-face, the sources said.

He stabbed her and then lit her on fire, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation. Her body was found near the 200 block of South 49th Street close to the Cedar Park section of West Philadelphia.

Officials said the attacker, who lives on 49th Street, confessed to his parents, who took him to a nearby police station.
