Disabled Vet's Gets Stolen Scooter Back

Scooter later found ditched by the Christina River

It was a disabled veteran's only form of independence and it was swiped the second he turned his back on it. But now, there's a happy ending.

Charles Alexander, 76, had his $4,000 scooter stolen right out of his own front yard in Wilmington, Del. He had just unlocked it and went inside his house to get his wallet.

Charles depends on the scooter to get him to the bus stop for his doctor's appointments.

He had these words for the heartless thief.

"I would say you a 'low-down, rotten, nasty, x-x-x-x-word person,'" Charles said. "Not because I'm handicapped but to anybody."

Now for the good news -- a security guard along the Christina River found the scooter.

Someone apparently took it for a joyride and drained the battery.

New Castle County Police returned it to the very grateful owner Monday night.
