Police Shoot, Kill Naked Man In Olney

Man found naked, shot after struggle

Philadelphia police are investigating an incident that ended in an officer fatally shooting a man in Olney early Sunday morning.

At around 6 a.m., police received a report of a naked man in the road in front of 5832 Mascher Street. The officer involved in the shooting told police that the man appeared to be on drugs and refused to listen to police instructions.

At one point, officers attempted to subdue the man with a taser. That tactic failed and the man got into a scuffle with the officer, at one point ripping an officer's gun holster from his pants.

Soon after, the officer fired five shots, three of which struck the man. The man was taken to Einstein University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A woman who claimed to be the victim's sister-in-law identified him as 31-year-old Kenado Newsuan. The victim's family claims the man was unarmed and are calling for further investigation.
