New Castle County Residents Advised to Boil Water

A water main break is the culprit

Wilmington officials are urging thousands of city water customers to boil their water Saturday because of possible water-quality problems created by a water main break.

The affected customers live outside city limits in northwestern New Castle County and have been notified by phone.

A water main break occurred along Barley Mill Road, but is now repaired.

Affected residents are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes until officials confirm the water is safe. Customers will be notified Sunday about the results of testing. City officials say they expect the boil-water advisory to be lifted at that time.
