Smoke Causes Evacuation of Montgomery County Mall

Smoke prompted the evacuation of a popular Montgomery County mall Tuesday morning.

Crews cleared the Montgomery Mall in North Wales, Pennsylvania shortly after 10 a.m., said Montgomery County dispatchers. No injuries were reported and everyone made it out of the mall OK after smoke began coming from the Gertrude Hawk Chocolates store, said dispatchers.

The mall tweeted that it was closed due to a power outage. [[388265252, C]]

PECO reported about 2,100 customers impacted by power outages in the area.

A mall spokesperson said there was no fire at the mall and that firefighters were called to help with the evacuation.

No word yet on the extent of damage.
