A mother who claimed her teenage son was beaten by police during a shoplifting incident is being charged with shoplifting from the same southeastern Pennsylvania store.
Police allege Marissa Sargeant of Levittown and a relative stole $100 in merchandise Thursday from a Walmart in Tullytown and were arrested after an employee called police.
Court records show that Sargeant remained in Bucks County prison Friday, unable to post bail and facing felony theft charges because she has three prior shoplifting convictions.
Sargeant's 14-year-old son was arrested at the same Walmart last November. She posted photos of his swollen and bloodied face on social media sites, alleging police brutality.
County prosecutors said the teen took off running while handcuffed, prompting police to shoot him with a stun gun and knock him down.
