A northwestern New Jersey woman who got lost for several hours while hiking in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area this weekend has been found unharmed.
State environmental officials tell The Star-Ledger that the 39-year-old woman called authorities around 5:30 p.m. Saturday and told them she thought she was in Worthington State Forest. But she was found safe around 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the recreation area's Buttermilk Falls section.
The state forest is located within the national recreation area, which sits in Warren and Sussex counties.
Authorities say the woman, identified only as a Warren County resident, was hiking alone when she apparently became ``lost and disoriented.'' But she eventually made her way to a roadway, where she was found.
