Firebomb May Have Sparked Delco House Fire

Witnesses say they saw someone running from the house seconds before flames erupted.

Police say that a firebomb may be what sparked an early morning house fire that displaced two families in Delaware County.

Firefighters were called to the home on Lincoln Avenue in Collingdale around 3:20 a.m. Thursday.

While on the porch of the home, authorities say they could detect the strong odor of gasoline. An accelerant, possibly gasoline, was found on the victim’s car in the driveway.

Witnesses say that just before the fire broke out, they watched someone running from the home, according to a press release.

All of the victims were able to escape the blaze unharmed. The displaced families are staying at the Red Cross home.

Authorities are interviewing a person of interest as well as neighbors of the victims.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 610-586-0502 or 610-892-4700.
