1,000+ Jobs for South Jersey

Gov. Chris Christie is in South Jersey promoting port projects that are expected to bring upwards of 1,000 jobs for the ports of Camden and Paulsboro.

His trip on Monday comes just days after a manufacturer was awarded tax breaks that could be worth up to $260 million for moving into Camden.

Power plant supplier Holtec International was approved for an incentive program last week by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.

The company said it intends to bring 395 jobs to Camden, which is among the nation's most impoverished cities.

In Paulsboro, Holt Logistics will help build a $170 million terminal at the old BP refinery site That project is expected to create 850 permanent jobs, according to the Courier Post.

The benefit to the state and local governments over 35 years is projected to be just $156,000 more than the tax credit amount.
