The Pennsylvania SPCA arrested a woman after she allegedly doused three cats with ammonia, killing one and injuring two others. The woman was arrested on the 4800 block of Westminster Street in West Philadelphia.

Investigators say the woman was trying to get rid of the cats that were roaming in the neighborhood.

“If people have an issue with cats in their neighborhood there are agencies and organizations that can help,” said George Bengal, head of humane law enforcement for the PSPCA. “This is not the proper way to deal with animals. People shouldn’t resort to cruel methods.”

The two injured cats were brought to the Pennsylvania SPCA’s headquarters at 350 E. Erie Avenue for treatment. The SPCA says the woman’s identity is being withheld until she is officially booked and processed by police.
