Man Arrested for Robbing Gas Station Twice

While many of us are paying money at the pump, one man went to a New Castle gas station to make a withdrawal, police said. Twice.

Delaware State Police cuffed Thomas Butler without incident on Thursday, in connection with two separate robberies of the same Exxon station in New Castle.

Authorities said that on March 30, two male suspects used handguns to hold up the gas station, located on Dupont Highway.  The two men got away with cash and cigarettes.  On April 13, the store was robbed again, by a suspect who insinuated that he was carrying a gun.  The clerk turned over cash, and nobody was hurt in either incident.

Police said that Butler, a New Castle resident himself, was walking by the gas station a few days after the last robbery when he was recognized by employees there.  Police arrived and took him into custody.
