Man Sentenced for Carjacking, High-Speed Pursuit

A man who carjacked a vehicle at knifepoint and then led police on a high-speed chase in southern New Jersey last year has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

Isaac Jerdan, of Clayton, will have to serve nearly 19 years before he becomes eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Friday.

Camden County prosecutors say the 29-year-old Jerdan carjacked the victim in a parking lot in June 2013 and drove off. A police officer soon spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it, but Jerdan drove off at speeds nearing 100 mph.

The ten-minute chase ended when the carjacked vehicle struck two cars in Oaklyn. Jerdan jumped out of the vehicle and led police on a foot chase through a neighborhood before he was found inside another vehicle.
