Horizon Drops 'Non-Compliant' Providers

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey said this week it will not renew any of its 2013 small group or individual health plans after Dec. 31, 2013.

Because of the technical problems associated with the rollout of the online marketplaces created under the Affordable Care Act, the Obama Administration said insurers could extend into 2014 policies that they had cancelled because they were not compliant with the coverage packages required under the health-care reform law.

The marketplaces were created as places where people without insurance and small business owners could go to comparison shop for health coverage. Read more about this story on PBJ.com
