A Delaware County couple has been arrested and charged with endangering their two young girls after they were found malnourished inside the family's filthy home.
Upper Chichester Police charged Vincent and Carol McDonald with child endangerment and related crimes after they entered the couple's uninhabitable home.
"Immediately, the officers smelled real strong odor of urine and feces, the carpet was all matted up, trash all over the house, cats and dogs running around the house," said Upper Chichester Police Detective Chris Jones.
The McDonalds' 5 and 7-year-old girls were found hungry and covered in bug bites. They were removed from the home, treated at the hospital and placed in foster care.
Delaware County caseworkers opened an investigation into the couple in August after getting reports of the 7-year-old being found dirty and running around the township in August.
The parents have a record for child endangerment.
In 2002, police say The McDonalds had six other children taken away from them when they lived in Bucks County.
Bail is set at 10-percent of $50,000 each. The couple remain jailed for failing to post the cash.
