Del. Deadly Police Shooting Under Investigation

The shooting happened inside a vacant building in Wilmington

One person was shot and killed by a Wilmington Police officer on Saturday night, inside a vacant building at 110 W. 9th Street in Wilmington, police said.

Authorities say while the officer was on routine patrol, he saw a person enter a vacant building and believed it may have been a burglary. The officer followed the person inside and gave several verbal commands, which the person ignored, police said. Then it became physical, according to police, and the officer pulled his gun and fired a shot.

The person, whose identity hasn't been released, died from those injuries.
