NJ Sen. Cory Booker Blasts Challenger for Statement on Single Moms

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker is blasting his re-election challenger over a statement that single mothers need governments to survive and are wed to the Democratic Party.

Republican Jeff Bell made the statement in an interview with the Asbury Park Press on Thursday.

Bell says he is behind in polls partly because of the benefits, telling the newspaper that Democrats have benefited from a decline in marriage rates.

He has expressed similar views before, including in a book he published two years ago.

In a statement, the Democrat Booker's campaign called the statement "delusional ranting" and also said they were "misogynistic, despicable comments."
