A car slammed right through the front door of an outlet shoe store this morning after the elderly driver suffered a medical episode.

The car crashed into the Reebok Factory Outlet Store at Arctic and Ohio Avenues in Atlantic City, N.J. around 6:45.

The man began to suffer a medical emergency as he drove eastbound on Arctic Avenue and sideswiped a police car next to him, Atlantic City Police Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

His passenger grabbed the steering wheel to try and get control of the car but she wasn't able to stop the vehicle before it crashed into the Reebok store at Tanger Outlets' The Walk.

The man and his passenger were hospitalized with non-serious injuries, McMenamin said.

The officer wasn't hurt and returned to duty despite some minor damage to the officer's car, McMenamin said.

The store wasn't open at the time of the crash.
