The cast of the "Dallas" reboot: Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy and Brenda Strong. Filming will resume Tuesday on the TNT drama following the death of Hagman on Friday.
The show, as they say, must go on.
As family, friends and millions of fans around the world continue to grieve the death of "Dallas" star Larry Hagman, production on the TNT drama is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, according to a source.
The cast was in the midst of filming the sixth episode of the show's upcoming 15-episode second season when Hagman passed away Friday at age 81 after a battle with cancer. It remains unclear how much of that episode the actor had been able to complete before his death. But Hagman, who reprised his iconic role as devilish oil tycoon J.R. Ewing for the cable update of the classic soap, will appear in at least the first five episodes when the series returns on January 28.
Producers are expected to give J.R.--and by extension, Hagman--a proper send-off later in the season, and those storyline details are still being worked out, according to the source.
On Friday evening, executive producers Cynthia Cidre and Michael M. Robin issued a statement, characterizing Hagman as "a giant, larger-than-life personality whose performance as J.R. Ewing will endure as one of the most indelible in entertainment history. He truly loved portraying this globally recognized character, and he leaves a legacy of entertainment, generosity and grace."
