Flowers and chocolate are the fuel of so many romantic relationships, it's a wonder no one has thought to put the two under on roof. Just think of how much time it would save dudes in the doghouse on Valentine's Day.
Leave it to restaurateur Valerie Safran and chef Marcie Turney, owners of BYOBs Lolita and Bindi, lifestyle boutique Open House and prepared foods market Grocery to put these two wonderful things in one store. Today marks the opening of their latest retail creation, Verde, an urban gardening shop that sells flowers, plants and accessories for the chic city-dweller's backyard or patio oasis, plus Marcie Blaine, a line of artisanal chocolates made in-house.
The boutique is the fifth business on the same block of 13th Street for the entrepreneurial pair and if they keep going at this rate, they're going to run out of real estate before they run out of ideas.
Verde is located at 110 South 13th Street.
