NYPD Officers Pay for Accused Whole Foods Shoplifter's Groceries, Do Not Arrest Her

The woman was accused of shoplifting from the Whole Foods at Union Square, when cops went in to grab lunch. Instead of arresting the woman, they paid the $30 for the food, and a witnesses picture capturing the scene has captivated people around the globe. NBC 4 New York’s Chris Glorioso reports.

A trio of police officers paid for an accused shoplifter's groceries rather than arresting her at a Manhattan Whole Foods.

Shopper Paul Bozymowski tweeted that the woman was being held by store security at the Union Square Whole Foods on Thursday after she was caught with food in her bag that she hadn't paid for.

A photo in Bozymowski's tweet shows the woman crying as three police officers pay for her food.

Chief of Department Terence Monahan tweeted that the officers are among the "kind-hearted cops who quietly do good deeds for New Yorkers in need" and thanked the Bozymowski for flagging their effort, which otherwise may have gone unnoticed. 

Bozymowski is a filmmaker who has directed documentaries, music videos and commercials.
