Police are investigating a fire at the Valley Forge Beef & Ale in Audubon, Montgomery County. NBC10 spoke with the owner of the bar as well as a woman who called it one of her favorite restaurants.

Crews were called to the scene of a fire at a popular sports bar and grill in Audubon, Montgomery County.

The blaze broke out shortly before 12:30 p.m. at the Valley Forge Beef & Ale on South Trooper Road. Brian Flaxman, the owner of bar, was inside at the time and claims everyone heard a loud bang from the basement. Employees also told officials they felt the first floor shake prior to the fire.

"It started in the old structure," said Flaxman. "That's where the heater was. The way the old building was constructed, the fire went in between the walls."

When firefighters arrived, they say the first floor of the building was filled with smoke. The fire eventually spread through voids in the walls to the third floor and out the roof of the building.

The building was evacuated and there are no reports of any injuries. It took firefighters four hours to bring the blaze under control.

Cheryl Marley of Audubon told NBC10 Valley Forge is one of her favorite restaurants. When she heard about the fire, she stopped by to see it for herself.

"It's very sad," said Marley. "I'm just so thankful nobody was hurt."

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
