Woman Dies in Chester County House Fire

Authorities determined Tuesday’s fire in Parkesburg was an accident, but also identified the victim as Malisa Holbert.

A woman died from smoke inhalation as flames tore through her Chester County home early Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

The fire started about 4:50 a.m. inside a home in the 300 block of Main Street in Parkesburg Borough.

When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy flames and smoke billowing from the home. It took firefighters about an hour to place the fire under control.

During a search of the home, fire officials said they found a body. On Thursday, the coroner identified the victim as Malissa Holbert. They ruled the death as accidental smoke inhalation.

According to fire officials, they say they had limited access to the building due to personal belongings.
