1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After Walmart Parking Lot Shooting in Lehigh Valley

The shooting took place Friday night and the gunman fled in a car, according to initial reports.

Two people were shot and the gunman fled in a vehicle Friday night from a Walmart parking lot in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, police said. NBC10 reporter Aaron Baskerville was on the scene.

A woman died and another person was hospitalized after a gunman opened fire in the parking lot of a Walmart in Lehigh County on Friday evening, police said.

The shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. outside the superstore on MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township, District Attorney Jim Martin and Whitehall Township Police Chief Michael Marks said in a joint press release Saturday. Both victims were found near a parked car with the engine still running.

The woman, who has not been identified, died of gunshot wounds to the body, the county coroner said. Her death was ruled a homicide.

The second person was still receiving treatment at a hospital, but his or her condition was not immediately announced.

Police also did not immediately announce any arrests.
