Fast-Paced Cartoons Slow Mental Function in Children: Study

The typical preschooler watches two to four hours of television a day. And now a popular cartoon is coming under attack. A new study conducted by the University of Virginia finds SpongeBob and other fast-paced cartoons may be bad for your child’s brain, slowing mental function. There is no evidence, however, to suggest that the short-term cognitive deficits found in this study translate into long-term problems.
